Explore an ever-growing collection of art located off a secret hiking trail.
Behind a campground past mile marker 17 is an art collection like no other. Hikers and artists bring in or create crafts to leave on display for other visitors to enjoy. This family-friendly trail was created by a young group of dreamers and believers that have created magic in an artistic form out of tools found in the forest. There is no official trailhead, but the trail can be accessed near Mirror Lake Highway outside of Kamas, Utah. The only signage on the path that points to the Fairy Forest is a purple arrow, painted on a large rock to the right of the pathway.
An official sign that says “Welcome to Fairy Land” is ¼ of a mile from the Mile 17 marker, so the hike is very short and follows a flat trail crossing over one creek, which may be dried up depending on the time you choose to visit. The Shady Dell campsite is nearby and hikers should respect other visitors who may be nearby. This is a perfect beginner's hike for kids who are old enough to walk.
