A great place for a beautiful walk or a bike ride, and it's pet friendly!
Stono River County Park is located at the foot of the Limehouse Bridge. The park is an 85.5-acre site with 25.3 acres of highland, 12.3 acres of marsh island, and 48 acres of marsh adjoining the Stono River. The park has 39 parking spaces, a marsh boardwalk leading to an island in the Stono River, trails with amazing views, restrooms, picnic areas, bike racks, a bike repair station, and a chilled drinking fountain. The island has wildlife such as deer, alligators, raccoons, coyotes, bobcats, otters, and wild pigs. The rivers and marshes have fish, shellfish, and oysters. You may spot some banana spiders, fiddler crabs, and loud egrets as you explore. The park trails include some paved and some natural-unpaved trails. Pets are welcome and enjoy walking on the trails and boardwalk. Along with the water fountains for humans, they also offer pup fountains. The short loop trail is a great trail for pets and kids and takes about 45 minutes. For bikers, there is a self-service bike station at the entrance. Keep in mind that bikes are not permitted on the boardwalk.
Stono River County Park is usually open from 7 am - 8 pm daily. The park is a nice place to walk, bike, and explore with family, friends, and your fur baby!
