The North Charleston Fire Museum has firefighting vehicles dating all the way back to the 1780s. There are over 20 fully restored vehicles plus amazing, priceless, and antique firefighting artifacts. All of the museum's pieces still run and can fight fire just like when they were produced. The museum is just minutes away from the Charleston International Airport. The lobby of the museum is huge and made to look like a classic firehouse. It has 20-foot ceilings and many details, such as the hand-laid 24-carat gold leaf scroll and home fire prevention theater that helps teach fire safety, complete with live smoke used during demonstrations. The displays teach the importance of fire prevention and show the advancements that have occurred in the fire service over the centuries. The museum has interactive exhibits, hands on equipment, a play area with a functioning fire pole, and a fully immersive theater experience. The tours and exhibits give all visitors a peek into the life of a firefighter and all are welcome to lift the gear and experience the fire hose's pressure!
