Visit this beautiful park that has walkways and 2 large fountains.
Joe Riley Waterfront Park is located along Concord Street, where there was a historical center of local maritime traffic traveling in and out of Charleston Harbor. The park was developed as it is now in 1990 and is comprised of 8 acres, winding pathways, and 2 large, impressive water fountains. The walking paths are on the riverfront as well as off of the water areas that then tie together to meet at a beautiful fountain that is topped with a palmetto tree statue. There are many benches throughout the park, including by the riverfront and also in the green spaces that also have plenty of mature palmetto trees for a bit of shade. The park has large swings and a central lawn where many visitors enjoy picnics, sunbathing, and games. Visitors can see pelicans, egrets, sailboats, and giant cruise ships. There are many areas around this charming park for photo-ops. The fountains light up at night and are some of the most photographed landmarks on the waterfront. The floral garden displays are beautiful, as well.
Joe Riley Waterfront Park is open from Monday to Saturday from 7 am - 9:30 pm and on Sunday from 7:30 am - 10:30 pm. Come enjoy the wide pier, the ornate gazebo, and everything else this lovely park has to offer.
