Explore some of the most scenic hiking trails in Missouri.
Rock Bridge Memorial State Park is located in Columbia, Missouri, and is open year-round. Bird enthusiasts will thoroughly enjoy this park. It is home to 200 different species, including various ducks, geese, wrens, swallows, sandpipers, hawks, woodpeckers, warblers, and more. There are several hiking trails to choose from, including Deer Run, Devil's Icebox, Grassland, Karst, and Spring Brook. Horseback riding is allowed on the Gans Creek Wild Area Trail from July 1 through October 31 (when the area is dry). Be aware that Missouri has many ticks in its forests, so take precautions and stay in the middle of the trails to limit potential exposure to ticks.
The state park also has a day-use area with picnic shelters and a playground, located at the intersection of the second loop and main park road. Visitors can come anytime between sunrise and sunset. Explore this scenic state park the next time you're traveling through Missouri.
