Explore the northeastern foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains at this state park.
Located an hour away from Tucson, Oracle State Park encompasses nearly 4,000 acres of land near the Santa Catalina Mountains and was named after the nearby town of Oracle, Arizona. In 1902, Neil Kannally moved to the town of Oracle, Arizona, and homesteaded the land that is now part of the state park. The historic multi-level Kannally Ranch House was built between 1929 and 1932 and features a Mediterranean Revival architectural style.
Visitors are welcome to take a self-guided tour of the historic Kannally Ranch House and learn about ranch life. You will also get to see artwork from the Kannally family throughout the historic home. Take a hike on one (or more) of the 15 miles of trails and enjoy viewing the local plants and wildlife. A few of the hiking trails to choose from are the Windy Ridge, Granite Overlook Trail Loop, Arizona Trail, Nature Trail, Manzanita, and Firebreak Trail. These trails are often used by hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. If you want to bring a light lunch, the park has some covered picnic areas with tables and grills available for day-use.
