Omaha's Zoo was once a simple park that has since grown into 130 acres over the last 125 years. The mission of the zoo is to educate the public, particularly young children. This zoo strives to engage the public through interactive exhibits and play. It continually works on supporting conservation efforts and accomplishes these goals by providing a unique and unforgettable experience. Locals of Omaha city say that visitors can easily spend a few days enjoying this park. This zoo has unique features including, train ride, a carousel, a giant screen I-max 3-D theater, a skyfari lift rides above the exhibits, a children's adventure trails play area, an aquarium, and an outdoor theater featuring over 35 exotic birds, and more.
One of the unique exhibits is known as the Desert Dome which is 84,000 square feet, and is one of Omaha, Nebraska landmarks. This dome features the three major deserts of the world The Namib of South Africa, the Red Center of Australia, and the Sonoran desert of the South West United States. Other exhibits include the Asian Highlands, African Grasslands, Orangutan Forest, and more. The Zoo is open daily from 10 am to 4 pm. It is accessible via Interstate 80. Parking at the zoo is free for all visitors. Some of the attractions do have an extra cost and some exhibits are only seasonal. This zoo is continually growing and changing, making this the perfect destination for all ages.
