Old Mission Santa Ines 1804 is an historic landmark in Solvang, California. It was built in 1804 and was named after Saint Agnes of Rome. The Mission was the first European settlement in the Santa Ynez Valley as well location of the first learning institution in this region of California. Today the establishment acts as a museum and a church parish and still holds a number of services each week.
The Mission has been dedicated as a National Historic Landmark and is recognized as one of the best-preserved missions in the state. This is also one of the oldest standing structures in all of California! The parish proudly houses an impressive collection of artifacts, paintings, and manuscripts. The town of Solvang is a unique and quaint town with strong Danish influences, and this is certainly a historically significant spot that you don’t want to miss out on when you’re visiting the area.
