This aquarium has an array of experiences for all to enjoy, from outdoor adventures like kayaking in the nearby waterways and classes on fishing and crabbing to indoor experiences such as spending the day as an aquarist and getting a behind the scenes look at the marvelous shark exhibit. There are so many different wildlife species here, and the aquarium does everything possible to ensure they are providing valuable knowledge and extensive conservation efforts for our crucial ecosystems.
Reservations are currently required to visit the aquarium, so be sure to book your trip plenty of time in advance. The aquarium is open from 9 to 5 daily, and admission costs $12.95 for adults (13-61), $11.95 for seniors (62+) and military, $10.95 for children (3-12), and those 2 and under and members are free. You’ll have the chance to get up close and personal with reptiles, amphibians, otters, sea turtles, stingrays, and endless species of colorful fish. You’ll likely fall into a trance gazing upon the 285,000-gallon shark tank exhibit, watching these spectacular beasts effortlessly drift through the water that surrounds you. A day at the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island is always a day very well spent.
