Officially open since 1950, the Elizabethan Gardens are a wonder to behold. It is located in North Carolina’s Roanoake Island next to Fort Raleigh National Historic Park. These breathtaking gardens feature exquisite stone statues. It is open 7 days a week year-round excluding Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day, and the month of February. There is a children’s garden area and butterfly house on the grounds as well, making it a fun place for the whole family. Every December, they turn on the Winter Lights for their guests Tuesday through Saturday from 6 to 9 pm. General daily admission is free for infants, $10 for adults, $7 for youth (6 - 17), $3 for children (2 - 5), and $3 for pets (service pets are free). One pet per owner is allowed to explore outside provided they stay on a leash. You won't want to miss out on this historic botanical garden, consider stopping by if you are in the area.
