Enjoy fantastic sunrises and sunsets at this state park bordering Lake Michigan.
Newport State Park is located north of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and it overlooks Lake Michigan. It features 11-miles of shoreline, 17 hike-in campsites, 30 miles of hiking trails, and a serene forest. Anglers with current Wisconsin fishing licenses are welcome to fish along Europe Bay. Hikers can explore Europe Bay Trail Loop, which is 7-miles long (the longest hiking trail in the park). It follows old logging roads up to the northern end of the park. Those needing a paved trail can take the Fern/Europe Bay Trail Loop, a 1.2-mile ADA-accessible path near the parking located east of the park office. Winter recreation such as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are also available here.
Park hours are 6 am to 11 pm year-round. Newport State Park encompasses the tip of Door County and is the perfect place for stargazing. It is recognized as a dark sky park and is the second of its kind in the midwestern U.S. Anyone that loves backpacking, camping, and hiking should head to Newport State Park.
