The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum was established on April 25, 1986. They are open every day of the week, 362 days of the year. It is located in Knoxville, Iowa, and is also home to the Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway. At the Knoxville Nationals, some of the greatest sprint car racers compete from all over the country. The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum is four stories high, featuring displays of trophies, paintings, photos, plaques, helmets, and other memorabilia related to sprint car racing. They also have a library and research center, a 40-seat theater, a catering kitchen, an administrative office, a conference and banquet facility, and a 150-seat clubhouse for race viewing.
The first floor features the Donald Lamberti National Sprint Car Museum, a museum store, and some offices. At this time, they have 25 restored big cars, super modified, and sprint cars on loan. The museum gives visitors a glimpse of the history and tradition of sprint car racing. Hall of Fame inductions began in 1990 with inductees going back over a century with names like Arthur and Louis Chevrolet, August and Fred Duesenberg, and other iconic individuals in the industry. Visitors enjoy seeing the cars, race suits, and garage scenes inside the museum. You will see something from each era, plus Nationals winning race cars through the years. The museum also has rotating exhibits year-round. This is a must-stop while visiting Knoxville, so don't miss out.
