Tour an opulent Greek Revival style plantation in South Carolina.
The Millford Plantation Historic Site is located in central South Carolina, just north of Lake Marion. It was built in the 1840s for John Lawrence and Susan Hampton Manning and is listed on the national register of historic places. Much of the original interior furnishings were provided by Duncan Phyfe of New York City and the main building contractors were Nathaniel and Christopher Potter who were from Rhode Island. The interior features incredible columns, large chandeliers, picture windows, brightly colored rugs, and period furnishings.
Truly, this plantation is one of the best-preserved Greek Revival homes you can see in North America. Around the main home, there are other historic buildings such as the laundry room, separate kitchen, gardener's house, stable, porter's lodge, and more. At the moment, Millford Plantation isn't offering regular tours, but updated information about their public tour times will be forthcoming. Don't miss out on the chance to see this historic site the next time you're traveling through South Carolina.
