Located on the East side of the UNC campus, these botanical gardens are a must-see in North Carolina. The outdoor gardens are open year-round from sunrise to sunset and offer 10 acres of area to explore. You will be able to see flowers such as orchids, various tropical and desert plants, flowering trees, azaleas, and a magnificent display of rhododendrons in the Spring. It is always free and open daily, so don’t hesitate to stop by for a visit.
Dogs are allowed in the outdoor gardens if they remain on a leash. Please note that restrooms are located in the greenhouse, and the outdoor gardens are not ADA accessible. Personal photography is welcome; however, there is a photography policy enforced if you want professional photography sessions here. Guided tours are available for groups with at least 7 up to 30 people and are available on Tuesdays and Fridays. Keep in mind that guided tours will cost extra and may last up to 90 minutes long. Self-guided tours require pre-registration online, so please check out the website for more details if you plan to come.
