Visit the home of the largest banyan tree in the United States.
Lahaina was once the capital of Hawaii, and it is home to the biggest banyan tree in the United States. This tree was planted in 1873, and today, it provides lots of shade for all its visitors. It is over 60 feet tall and appears to be multiple trees since it has over a dozen trunks, but it is actually one giant tree. You can visit this outdoor courtyard daily from sunrise to sunset.
They often host craft fairs, block parties, and other events in the summer and string hundreds of lights on the tree for the holiday season. Halloween is another big event in Lahaina where they shut down Front Street to vehicular traffic to host a children's parade. Wear your best costume on Halloween if you're here; there are plenty of costume contests you may win. Guests can enjoy art in the park every second and fourth weekend to admire the local art. The Old Lahaina Courthouse is located nearby and allows visitors to learn more about the history of Lahaina.
