See the historic Douglas Mansion in northern Arizona.
The Douglas Mansion was built in 1916 by the Douglas family, influential mining entrepreneurs from the early 20th-century. This mansion tells of the history of the Jerome area, the mining era, and the Douglas family. Upon entering the museum, a 3D model of the town shows where the underground mines were. You can also see historic photographs, artifacts, hands-on exhibits, and live demonstrations during your self-guided tour. Be sure to see the Douglas library and the upstairs bathroom featuring period furniture.
This historic mansion also has an outdoor exhibit with mining equipment, picnic areas by the landscaped patio, and interpretive signs. A buggy owned by the Douglas family and "Smokey Joe," a 1929 Ford Model A truck can be viewed at the Carriage House. Please note that leashed pets are welcome on the grounds only, not inside the museum. Learn all about Jerome, Arizona, and what it was like during the mining boom at Jerome State Historic Park.
