Visit this one-of-a-kind geothermal hot spring hidden within a limestone beehive-shaped dome in Midway, Utah.
Homestead Crater is located near the Homestead Resort in Midway, Utah. This unique crater was discovered by a farmer who migrated to Utah from Switzerland in the late 1800s. Midway reminded him of his homeland of Switzerland, and in the midst of farming his land, he came upon a strange limestone rock crater. It wasn't long before this place became a local attraction. After the discovery, the Schneiter family started offering comforting dishes, which led to the opening of the Homestead Resort, which became their lifelong legacy. The Schneiter's owned and operated the resort for 67 years.
The crater dome lets sunlight filter through in a marvelous way while the freshwater stays heated year-round at a constant 90-96 degrees Fahrenheit. Visitors can take a relaxing soak, swim, or snorkel to spend their time here. If you'd rather stay dry, take a self-guided tour instead. Hours are Monday to Thursday from 12 pm to 8 pm, Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm, and Sundays from 10 am to 4 pm.
