Take an all-day adventure on this trail leading to three lakes and a waterfall.
This moderate trail is located off the Mill B South Fork trailhead in the middle of Big Cottonwood Canyon. It’s an out-and-back trail that totals 7.9 miles and has an elevation increase of 2,700 feet. You will see the following lakes at the top of the trail: Lake Blanche, Lake Florence, and Lake Lillian. There are a few bridges at the bottom of the hike and a few switchbacks as elevation begins to climb. Because of this, frequent rest breaks are recommended during your hike. The trail is relatively rocky and uneven but begins to flatten out at the top. It is best for experienced hikers with good hiking boots to help you stay steady.
The best time of year to hike here is around mid-Spring. This is a popular season since the lakes are still frozen over, and the trail is only partially covered in snow. Swimming and dogs are not allowed in the lakes, but tent camping or hammocking is permitted. Check out the Lake Blanche hiking trail to experience a beautiful, secluded spot along the Wasatch Front.
