Visit an above "underground" 5,000 square foot home built into boulders of stone near Arches National Park.
Near the famous Arches National Park is a unique home called Hole N the Rock. This home was carved into and under layers of sandstone into a 5,000 square foot home. Alfred and Gladys Christensen (both artists) worked for twelve years, completing their project, removing nearly 50,000 square feet of rock. This masterpiece has fourteen rooms with fully working electricity and plumbing, and a working fireplace and chimney.
Tours of the house are given and last about 12 minutes long, with other attractions available. There is a gift shop with local products such as Native American crafts and handmade tools and an attached general store offering ice cream and other treats. Another attraction is a petting zoo where guests can interact with goats, donkeys, exotic birds, and even a camel. This is a place in Utah that you won't want to miss.
