Tour this beautiful historic plantation in North Carolina.
The Historic Hope Plantation features the restored home of North Carolina Governor David Stone (1770-1818). Hope Mansion features a blend of Federal and Georgian-style architecture and offers unique insights into the late 18th and 19th-century rural life. There is a slave dwelling in the basement of the mansion and an exhibit room in the Heritage Center depicting the history of African Americans, Native Americans, and English settlers in the region.
The centerpiece of the plantation is the 1803 Hope Mansion, furnished with a collection of original period pieces. You can also see the 1763 King-Bazemore House during your visit, and both homes are on the National Register of Historic Places. With over two miles of nature trails and picnic areas available in Hope Forest, you could easily spend half a day at the Hope Plantation. Guided tours of this historic plantation are offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Each tour is about an hour and a half long, and tour times begin at 10 am, 12 pm, and 2 pm.
