Cape Lookout National Seashore is located in Beaufort, North Carolina. The Cape Lookout encompasses an undeveloped land stretch measuring about 56 miles and is only accessible by personal boat or ferry. This area is open 24/7, but only Harker's Island is accessible by vehicle. That island features a visitor center, which is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm. Guest are welcome to take self-guided tours of the exhibits. A film is also available upon request. Information, first aid, and restrooms are available on site.
Cape Lookout National Seashore is perfect for outdoor recreational activities such as boating, bird watching, swimming, beachcombing, fishing, camping, and more. Visitors can also climb to the top of Cape Lookout lighthouse for a bird's eye view. Another top attraction is Portsmouth Village, accessed only by boat. This is a historical archeologic site that has a rich history. Visitors can tour the post office, school, church, life-saving station, general store, and visitor center while they are there.
