Spend a day hiking and fishing at this Pennsylvania state park.
Hickory Run State Park encompasses nearly 16,000 acres in the western foothills of the Pocono Mountains. This park features three state park natural areas, including Hawk Falls, a mud swamp, and a national natural landmark called Boulder Field (the largest of its kind in the Appalachian region). You can explore over 40 miles of hiking trails and fish for trout along the various streams. Hickory Run State Park is open daily from sunrise to sunset and is a must-see state park in Pennsylvania.
At the Sand Spring day-use area, you can play on the disc golf course and enjoy an outdoor picnic with friends and family. Sand Spring Lake also has a beach and welcomes guests to swim at their own risk. Swimming is allowed from 8 am to sunset between Memorial Day and Labor Day. You can also book a camping trip here to soak in as much of the park as you can. They offer campsites that can accommodate tents or RVs, or you can stay cozy in one of their camping cottages or group cabins.
