The Fort Worth Stockyards is the embodiment of the Western cowboy lifestyle. This is the place to see the history of Texas and its livestock industry. As you walk down the street of the Stockyard, you will see that the original brick sidewalk and wooden corrals they used back in the day. Everywhere you turn, you can catch a glimpse of what it was like during the Wild West when cattle ranching was a way of life.
Here in the Fort Worth Stockyards, there is so much for visitors to do. Check out the various shops which line the street. There are also restaurants spread throughout the street, so you can grab a bite to eat and spend an entire day in the Stockyards. If you plan your trip right, you will see the cowboys round up and move a herd of Texas Longhorn cattle down the very street right in front of you. Be sure to find out where you can pet and sit on a famous Texas Longhorn for a picture. If you are up to it, you can also attend the rodeo held in the stadium at the stockyards. If you have never been to the rodeo before, prepare for great entertainment. There are other events held here such as concerts and some old fashioned shoot offs.
The entertainment is endless in the National Historic District of the Fort Worth Stockyards. This is a great place to visit while you’re in the Fort Worth/Dallas area. Don’t forget to wear your cowboy hat and boots!
