Learn about the history of Kentucky's humble beginnings.
Constitution Square Historic Site is the birthplace of Kentucky's statehood. Mature trees offer plenty of shade as guests explore the grounds and many original buildings. Walk on the pathways and read the plaques to discover Danville's rich history. You will be able to see an old courthouse, a jail, a meeting house, and a post office as you wander through this three-acre open-air museum. The courthouse hosted ten constitutional conventions between 1785 and 1792. Take time to explore the cabins where the Kentucky Constitution was drafted too.
There is also a great picnic area here, making it an ideal place for a laid-back family outing. Take a picture by the statue of two friends in the center of a circle of plaques. They have one plaque for each Kentucky governor. The friends depict the state seal representing the motto "United We Stand, Divided We Fall." Constitution Square Historic Site is open seasonally; don't hesitate to contact them directly for current hours and admission rates.
