Explore this outdoor sanctuary and listen to the sounds of nature.
McConnell Springs is a beautiful 26-acre nature sanctuary in Lexington, Kentucky, and it features an education center, a nature center, and a paved trail. Guests will learn about the local plant life inside the education center and view various exhibits. The nature center is open Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm and Sunday from 1 pm to 5 pm. Before leaving, head outside to the nature sanctuary and walk along the half-mile paved loop trail.
Besides the paved trail, you are welcome to explore the other marked dirt or wood chip trails. Bring good walking shoes with you. The amphitheater and the pond often have frogs, turtles, ducks, and geese. Keep an eye out for the log cabin and lean-to while visiting McConnell Springs. Their natural play area is perfect for kids to get their energy out, and there is also a Bur Oak Tree over 250 years old. Visitors may also enjoy the shaded picnic areas as they walk around this scenic place.
