Enjoy the expansive manicured lawns and hundreds of flowers here.
Get ready to be outside in nature at The Arboretum State Botanical Garden of Kentucky. It is located on the campus of the University of Kentucky and features 100 acres to explore. There is free parking with picnic tables close by and The Dorotha Smith Oatts Visitors Center to help you get started or answer any questions you may have. There is a gift shop inside the Visitors Center with restrooms available too. "The story walk" begins near the Visitors Center and is centered around a book called Yucky Worms by Vivian French. A boy finds a worm while he is helping his grandmother in her garden and learns about the worm and all that it can do and begins to appreciate what worms do.
The garden is open year-round from 8 am - 9 pm daily. A 2-mile paved trail takes you through beautiful trees, shrubs, and flowers. You will see fountains, sculptures, a bridge, and rose gardens during your walk. In a gorgeous grassy area, there are tree stumps and logs that kids love to climb on and adults can sit and relax as their kids get some energy out. You will find benches throughout the gardens as well. This is a great pit stop that can help you appreciate the simple things in life. Come and visit the Arboretum of Kentucky today.
