Explore the historic Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill in Kentucky.
When you visit Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, plan on spending at least a few hours here. This historic hub has 34 of the 260 original buildings that the Pleasant Hill Shakers constructed over a century ago. These buildings are located along a mile-long gravel road. The Farm has a garden (where some of the fresh produce is grown for the restaurant known as The Trustees' Table), and The Preserve has miles of hand-laid rock walls, limestone, water sources, and rich soil. No wonder the Shakers that lived here were happy to make this area their home.
The Inn has 72 guest rooms, suites, and cottages inside 13 restored Shaker buildings. If you stay at the Inn, you will notice a lot of reproduced Shaker furniture, and it has its original hardwood floors. Head to The Trustees Table and enjoy dishes made with seasonal ingredients from the local farm for a heartwarming meal. Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill encompasses 3,000 acres and hosts weekend programs, seasonal events, and hayrides. Don't miss out on this incredible historic village the next time you visit Kentucky.
