This distillery has been producing its famous bourbon that we know today for 75 years.
The Wild Turkey Distillery is another spot on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail that makes some of the country’s most well-known and loved whiskey. This distillery can be found in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, and the product that comes out of it was first developed around 1869. The name was finally born from a wild turkey hunting trip in 1940 when the whiskey was shared among the group. Wild Turkey is dedicated to their craft and understands the value that lies within each step of the bourbon-making process.
It's so fitting that the distillery is situated atop Wild Turkey Hill. Tours are offered so guests can get a front-row view of where the product is made and firsthand knowledge about the history and method by which Wild Turkey creates their whiskey. Of course, samples are also provided so visitors can receive the full experience of touring a distillery. The distillery is open Thursday through Saturday from 9 to 5 and on Sunday from 12 to 4. Also be sure to check out the beautiful new visitor’s center here, which provides you with stunning views of the Kentucky River.
