If you like camping, the Charlton Recreation Area in Arkansas is simply breathtaking. Tents and RV parking is available for guests during the spring, summer, and fall seasons. Do not miss out on the chance to go swimming at the Walnut Creek spring-fed swimming hole nestled in the Ouachita National Forest. A stone dam created the swimming area and was built here back in the late 1930s. Fishing and canoeing are other activities that visitors can do here, provided guests will bring their own canoes for the trip. Mountain biking and hiking trails can be found nearby and are free for visitors to explore during their stay. You will see lots of wildlife and get to experience the peacefulness of nature in the Charlton Recreation Area.
A picnic pavilion is available on a first-come-first-served basis. alternatively, you can set up a nice picnic meal underneath the big trees that line Walnut Creek. Pets are required to remain on leashes and aren’t allowed in the swimming areas. Flushing toilets are available here as well as fresh drinking water spigots. This is a great place to stop if you’re touring the Southern United States. The swimming area in the Ouachita National Forest is one of the best places to visit in Arkansas. Take some much needed time away from the stresses of life and enjoy a camping trip at the Charlton Recreation Area.
