Visit the botanical garden at the University of Arkansas.
Garvan Woodland Gardens features plenty of seasonal flowers, including daffodils, tulips, azaleas, chrysanthemums, peonies, rhododendrons, hydrangeas, and roses. It is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm (except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day). There are ponds in the garden, but these are not for wading or swimming. Everyone must wear shirts and shoes at all times in the garden. Feel free to take pictures, but do not disturb or pick the plants and flowers so that other visitors can enjoy them too. Most people spend over an hour at this scenic and peaceful attraction. If you want to bring a picnic lunch, there are picnic tables by the meadow overlook on the west side. There are several points of interest to explore, including the nature preserve on the north end overlooking Lake Hamilton.
The paths are for pedestrians only, and they are level enough to accommodate strollers and wheelchairs well. Biking, skateboarding, or roller skating is not permitted in the gardens. Service animals are always welcome here. Well-behaved dogs are also welcome outside and must remain leashed at all times. Only one dog per person is allowed, and an additional $5 is required for those entering with their pet.
