Learn about America's industrial revolution at this museum.
The Baltimore Museum of Industry is located inside of an 1860s oyster cannery in southern Baltimore. This part of the country became a manufacturing hub during the industrial revolution. In fact, Baltimore is home to America's first passenger railway, oldest gas company, and first traffic light among other innovations and inventions. Exhibits inside the museum include an oyster cannery, machine shop, print shop, and even a steel mill.
This museum is only open on Friday and Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm. Admission is $12 for adults, $9 for seniors, $7 for children, and children ages 6 and under are free. They often hold live demonstrations and seasonal events throughout the year, so look at their website to see their current calendar of events. Anyone can see history come alive at the Baltimore Museum of Industry.
