The Discovery Center is a kid-friendly, hands-on experience great for young visitors and their families.
The South Dakota Discovery Center is a large, interactive, playful area with more than 60 hands-on activities and science exhibits to spend hours enjoying. The newly opened discovery town has a café, garden center, vet clinic, post office, and a newborn nursery that will keep kids happily busy. The museum also offers camps, classes, and a teen science café. They have a Sun-Earth Universe exhibit to help visitors learn about NASA, Space Missions, testing spacecraft, and trying models of instruments that are used on NASA missions. Check out the exhibit at http://www.explorescience.org/sun. There is a way to plan a space mission using a game board. You can see what it is like to be inside of a giant bubble or how to use a "house phone." The exhibits change periodically so it stays fresh for return visits. The museum is a great place to hold a birthday party or take a group on a field trip. The space is also available for an after-hours rental.
