Explore this cascading waterfall near Mount Hood.
Sahalie Falls is located off State Highway 126 on the southeastern side of Mount Hood. This Oregon waterfall is accessible via the Waterfall Loop Trail. The trail leads south to Koosah Falls and is a family-friendly 2.6-mile hike. Sahalie Falls features a 100-foot drop, and the viewing platform is less than 100 feet from the parking lot. Koosah Falls is 70 feet tall and drops into a deep pool. The names Sahalie and Koosah are Chinook terms meaning heaven and sky, respectively.
McKenzie Bridge, Oregon, is the nearest town to this waterfall. Make a pit stop there for any supplies and water you may need since there is only a vault toilet and parking area at the falls. Be aware that Koosah Falls has a larger parking lot and could be less congested than Sahalie during peak times. If you'd like to camp nearby, feel free to book a stay at either the Coldwater Cove or Ice Cap Creek campgrounds. Anyone visiting Mount Hood, Oregon, should also take a picture at Sahalie Falls.
