Take a ride on a short-line train featuring stunning views of the Mount Hood Valley.
Located just off Interstate 84 in Hood River, this century-old railroad is east of Portland, Oregon, and provides several different excursions. You will pass through orchards, vineyards, forests, and the famous Mount Hood while riding on this scenic railroad. Mount Hood is the tallest peak in Oregon and is a simply magnificent view. The Mount Hood Railroad depot is in Hood River, Oregon, and parking at the depot costs $5 per car or $6 per RV. All seats are pre-assigned when you purchase train tickets, and reservations are strongly encouraged but not required. There are special event tickets available such as the Christmas train; however, keep in mind that special event tickets are not refundable and cannot be rescheduled.
The Hood River Valley excursion last 1 hour and 15 minutes, with prices starting at $35 for children (ages 2 to 12) and $40 for adults. Infants ages 0 to 2 years old won’t need a ticket since they have to be held for the duration of the ride. Guests can book their tickets online. Time slots on Saturdays include 10 am, 12 pm, and 2 pm. Enjoy this family-friendly attraction the next time you're visiting northern Oregon.
