Take a ride on a short-line train which offers stunning views of the Mount Hood Valley.
Located just off of Interstate 84 in Hood River, this century-old railroad is located East of Portland, Oregon, and can take you on different excursions. You can see orchards, vineyards, forests, and the famous Mount Hood while riding on this scenic railroad. Mount Hood is the tallest peak in Oregon and is a simply magnificent view as you ride the train. The Mount Hood Railroad depot is in Hood River, Oregon, and parking at the depot costs $5 per car or $6 per RV. All seats are pre-assigned when you purchase train tickets and reservations are strongly encouraged but not required. There are special event tickets available such as the Christmas train, however, keep in mind that special event tickets are not refundable and cannot be rescheduled.
The Hood River Valley excursion lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes with prices starting at $35 for children (ages 2 to 12) and $40 for adults. Infants ages 0 to 2 years old won’t need a ticket because the railroad requires them to be held. Guests can book their tickets online. Time slots on Saturdays include 10 am, 12 pm, and 2 pm. This train ride is family-friendly and is perfect for those who love train rides.
