This art museum has a wonderful collection of pieces from all over the world, including many pieces from Wisconsin native Georgia O'Keeffe.
The Milwaukee Art Museum was founded in 1888 and is the perfect place to come deepen your appreciation for art from around the world. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, the MAM contains around 25,000 incredible pieces of art within its eye-catching building. You’ll have the chance to see art from 15th to 20th century Europe as well as American paintings, sculptures, photographs, and more from the 17th to 20th centuries. The MAM has one of the most impressive collections of Georgia O’Keeffe artwork, who happens to be a native of Wisconsin. Some other featured artists include Andy Warhol, Claude Monet, and Jan van Goyen.
The museum also has a café that offers stunning views of Lake Michigan as well as a gift shop where you can pick up a neat souvenir or thoughtful present for someone special. A visit to this museum when you’re in the area is an absolute must – once you simply get a glimpse of the building’s architecture, you’ll be completely intrigued to see what’s held inside. The MAM is a place to come marvel at world-class art and leave with a much greater sense of gratitude for the artists showcased here and their immense creativity we’re so lucky to experience.
