Enjoy views of Lake Michigan atop Indiana's majestic sand dunes.
Indiana Dunes State Park is located on the southeastern shore of Lake Michigan in Chesterton, Indiana. It encompasses over 2,000 acres of primitive landscapes along the shores of Lake Michigan. Visitors often spend time on the miles of beachfront, and the park features giant sand dunes that tower nearly 200 feet above the lake. Recreational activities at the Indiana Dunes include camping, RVing, birding, hiking, and swimming. They have over 100 sites with 50-amp electricity hookups.
This park has several hiking trails ranging from easy to rugged, and all are welcome to explore the great outdoors during their visit. A popular route is the Three Dune Challenge, where you will test your limits and try to climb over 500 vertical feet to conquer the three tallest sand dunes in the park. Feel free to stop by the on-site nature center while you're at it. Center hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM. Discover one of Indiana's hidden gems and spend some time at Indiana Dunes State Park.
