Idaho Botanical Garden

Stop and smell the roses in this lovely garden.

This garden used to be part of the old Idaho penitentiary and served as a farm and nursery back in the day. It is comprised of 50-acres of farmland and was made into a botanical garden in 1984. Here in the botanical garden, there are various flowers and vegetation native to the state of Idaho. You will also find some foreign plants which have adapted to the region and grow beautifully in the Idaho Botanical Garden. There is a range of desert plants and high altitude plants from the nearby mountains.

Former inmates at the old Idaho penitentiary planted many of the garden's trees, especially in the Meditation Garden. Stop by the Rose Garden, Water Garden, English Garden, and Herb Garden during your visit here. There are different walking paths to take in the view of the colorful landscape and distinct atmosphere. Along with the gardens themselves, there are different activities and events hosted here, like garden parties and music concerts.
