Come to the Hummel Planetarium to learn about space, the solar system, the stars, and beyond.
The Hummel Planetarium is located on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University. This place is named after Dr. Arnim D. Hummel because of his involvement and leadership in developing the science program at Eastern Kentucky University from 1929 to 1947. Be sure to stop by the Space Theater to view a pr-recorded show or mixed-media presentation.
The theater also hosts Live Star Talks, where they use the digital projection system to help visitors explore the universe. Private showings are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4 pm. Tickets for public shows go on sale 30 minutes before each show; however, reservations are not required. Each show is about 60 - 90 minutes long, and guests must arrive early for good seats. Free parking is available at the Perkins Lot next to the Planetarium. Admission prices are less than $10 per person, so it is an affordable venue. Be sure to visit Hummel Planetarium the next time you're driving through Kentucky.
