This national forest boasts stunning natural beauty and amazing campsites.
In 1966, the name of the forest was changed to honor the famous explorer Daniel Boone. Daniel Boone National Forest has everything one would want to enjoy time in the natural world. The forest is Federally owned land that visitors can visit and enjoy. There is so much to do whether you stay for the day or come for a long trip. This forest has 708,000 acres of lakes, rivers, streams, campgrounds, walking trails, waterfalls, views, and beautiful rock formations. You can hike, camp, picnic, go rock climbing, and go boating during your visit.
There are three large lakes within the forest, including Cave Run Lake, Laurel River Lake, and Lake Cumberland. Please remember to follow all of the parking rules and read and follow all signage. It is best to create a planned course to make sure the trails match your hiking ability. Guests should also bring a map, plenty of water, a compass, and sturdy hiking boots if they want to hike here.
