Enjoy free tours, entertainment, and more during your visit to Nauvoo.
Early pioneers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints built the beautiful town of Nauvoo, including the Nauvoo Temple. The town was built from swamps into a large city, and it was the headquarters of the church from 1839 to 1846. Many church practices were established in Nauvoo, such as the Church Relief Society that was founded and organized here. Nauvoo is one of the last settlements of this church's early days before the great Westward migration.
Today, visitors can explore the historic town by enjoying tours, exploring the visitor center, and engaging in numerous interactive activities for the whole family. Enjoy the live demonstrations from the blacksmith, tin smith, shoemaker, rope maker, chefs, weavers, barrel makers, and the guns smiths. Visitors can shop in historic buildings and buy items that the early pioneers once used. Feel free to tour the many historic buildings, such as the meeting houses and buildings where social events were held. Other places to visit include the historic cemetery and the Family Search Center, located right next to the Nauvoo Temple. Visitors can also walk the grounds of the reconstructed temple.
