Flaming Gorge Recreation Area

Flaming Gorge is located north of Vernal, Utah, in the Ashley National Forest. The region features various terrain, making Flaming Gorge an ideal place for any outdoor lover. Many visitors enjoy swimming, fishing, boating, and water skiing in the reservoir. You can also float down the Green River below the Flaming Gorge dam to take in more of the scenery. Flaming Gorge is known for its lake trout, so bring your fishing gear to see if you can catch a big one. People have been known to catch 30 to 50-pound trout in the past.

This recreation area is open year-round and has various wildlife, including moose, elk, antelope, bighorn sheep, and wild horses. If you want to stay for a camping trip, feel free to reserve one of their hundreds of campsites. The area also has several places to rent just outside Flaming Gorge. This beautiful place is full of scenic sights and offers plenty of space to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.
