Tour this southern plantation near New Orleans.
The Destrehan Plantation is located in southern Louisiana, 10 minutes away from the New Orleans airport. This plantation was founded by the Destrehan family whose ancestor, Jean Baptiste Destrehan, was part of King Louis XIV's royal court. Guests will learn about the history of the plantation and gain insight into America's colonial era.
This historic southern plantation offers guided tours daily from 9 am to 3 pm and the grounds close at 4:30 pm. Tours take you to see the plantation home, Jefferson room, legacy room, and other exhibits. General admission is $24 for adults, $20 for seniors (60+), $13 for children, and free for children ages 0 to 6. Please note that groups of 20 or more people will have to book in advance. Feel free to purchase one of the handmade goods from the gift shop or enjoy a picnic at the picnic areas around the grounds before you go.
