City Museum

Take a look at one of the most unique museums in the United States.

The City Museum is a 10-story building that used to be a shoe warehouse. Since 1993, a group of local sculptors, welders, and painters have been creating an artistic version of a conceptual “city within a city”. This museum was officially opened to the public in 1997 and has been a local spectacle ever since. You will see the most spectacular things when you visit such as a giant pair of underwear, indoor man-made caverns, a giant hamster wheel, the biggest indoor slide, sculpted hippos, and a giant treehouse. There’s even an old school bus set atop the building’s roof along with a rooftop garden.

Guests can take 45-minute guided tours of the City Museum where the museum guides can answer any and all of your questions about the museum and how it came to be. This is an ever-evolving place and will give you a one-of-a-kind experience that you won’t forget. It can be easy to get lost in this place but there is so much to see if you want to do a self-guided tour of the museum instead. Along with the various artwork on display, you could say that this building is basically an adult jungle gym. There are lots of places to climb and play providing many hours of entertainment.
