Visit what used to be one of the first immigrant stations of the United States.
Established as a National Monument in 1946, this building is located in Manhattan’s Battery Park. Open to the public 24/7, feel free to walk through this amazing monument to learn more about its history. Originally, it was a fort built to look out for invaders, and then it became an opera house and restaurant. Later on, it was used as an immigration station, an aquarium, and now is the ticket box office for the Stature of Liberty.
If you're a fan of the movie The Greatest Showman, you'll be surprised to know that the opera singer Jenny Lind actually did her singing debut in America right here. Back in 1850, it was known as the Castle Garden. This is an incredible piece of history that is worth exploring. Come and see this national monument while you visit New York City.
