Times Square

Soak in the sites of one of the world’s most visited tourist attractions.

Called by many “the center of the Universe,” Times Square is a major hub in the Midtown Manhattan section of New York City. Some say the beating heart of New York is Broadway, and the Broadway Theater District calls Times Square home. Broadway is the place for any play or musical with clout, so there’s a good chance your favorite shows can be found here. Other things to do on Times Square include theaters for both shows and movies, National Geographic and Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museums, bowling, dancing, live music, shopping, and an endless selection of restaurants. The streets light up with countless sparkling lights at night, teeming with brilliant digital billboards, which is a fantastic sight to behold.

Times Square often hosts special events as well. Every summer solstice since 2002 has been marked by Mind over Madness, a yoga event enjoyed by thousands of people. It’s a unique experience to find stillness in the middle of the city. On New Year’s Eve, as the clock nears midnight, the famous New Year’s Eve Ball descends from the top of Times Square, bidding the old year farewell. Valentine’s Day is a special time on Times Square as numerous couples engage in surprise proposals, weddings, vow renewals, and the annual Valentine Heart decorating competition.
