Check out one of the most unique shops in Seattle, open since 1899.
Located right on the pier just south of Pike Place Fish Market in downtown Seattle, this shop has things that are beyond all imagination. If you’ve ever been to Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, this shop has even more unusual stuff to see. The original owner was Joseph Edward Standley, and his business has continued to stay in the family for generations. You can buy many different things at the gift shop, and a wide variety of curiosities can be seen on display in the Ye Olde Curiosity Shop.
Some of the curiosities you will see here include a three tusked walrus skull, mummies, an “it” that appears to look like a hairy mermaid creature, a miniature cork village, shrunken heads, a four-legged hen, and fleas in dresses. Millions of people have entered the shop over the years, and it is one of those places that you truly have to see to believe. This is a great place to find gag gifts, unique jewelry pieces, collectibles, and interesting t-shirts. Get it while you can because they sell out online quite often. This is an interesting little shop where visitors can spend as little or as much time as they want inside.
