Explore one of the top Japanese gardens in North America.
The Seattle Japanese Garden is located in the Washington Park Arboretum and has been open since June of 1960. Juki Iida, a landscape designer, created this botanical garden and put much thought into every aspect of it. This is one of the most celebrated Japanese gardens outside of Japan and encompasses 3.5-acres. There are wonderful paths to follow through the formal garden and the naturalistic woodland. The Seattle Japanese Garden also features a lake, wooden zigzag bridge, and stone peninsula.
This garden is open Tuesday through Sunday beginning at 10 am. Closing times vary depending on the season, but May through August has the longest hours, 10 am to 7 pm. Please note that this attraction is closed from December through February. The fall leaves are outstanding, so stop by if you're visiting Seattle in September and October. Keep an eye out for turtles in the small lake and enjoy the tranquility of this outdoor space.
