Visit this gorgeous artificial waterfall as you explore Seattle.
The Waterfall Garden Park is also known as the UPS Waterfall Park because it was built where the original UPS building was before they moved. This park commemorates the UPS founder, James Casey, and it does so in a beautiful way. Created in 1978 and designed by Nasao Kinoshita, the park features an artificial 22-foot tall waterfall, spewing over 5,000 gallons of water per minute. In Roger Sale's book, Seeing Seattle, he claims the Waterfall Garden Park to be "One of the most expensive parks per square foot ever built in the United States."
Although the park's main attraction is the waterfall, it also has a Japanese garden, which features varying plants, all native to Japan. Alongside the garden lies a pool designed by Yoshikuni Araki. Waterfall park has an overall welcoming and natural feeling that can often be lost in the modern-day, especially around densely populated cities. Waterfall Garden Park is a breath of fresh air. The park is open all day to the public until sunset.
