This informative museum has 4 major prehistoric and historic collections portraying the story of the Western Great Plains all from the Lakotas' perspective. You will learn about their beliefs and other contributions to the story from cowboys. The Journey Learning Center also goes over the wars between tribes and why they happened. They also talk about the gold rush in the area and when it happened.
Stop by the theater to see a solar system presentation with slides and explanations. Other exhibits include rocks and dinosaurs with many hands-on, interactive areas for children to explore. Learn about the history of Rapid City and its homesteaders. They have great displays throughout and a garden area outside. This family-friendly attraction is great for all ages and is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Sundays from 1 pm to 5 pm.
