Learn about how electricity works at this interactive museum.
This museum was founded in 1985 by Jonathon Winter. At first, it wasn't a museum but was a collection of spare electronic parts and manuals. As time went on, Winter eventually acquired enough parts to establish the museum in 1998 officially. By that time, he had collected over 800 radio sets, along with miscellaneous parts. In 2001, the museum switched locations which grabbed the attention of a former Microsoft employee, John Jenkins, who had a variety of electronics and instruments to add to the ever-growing collection. The museum continued to grow, and in 2012 it finally changed Its name to the SPARK Museum of Electrical Invention.
Today, you will find that the museum has an educational emphasis, including an outreach program focused on schools located throughout Western Washington. SPARK is made unique by its passion and love for learning. All the exhibits are family-friendly and will keep you entertained. Their hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm, and admission is very affordable.
